• A portal for international cooperation in education and research and a communication platform for those seeking information and cooperation partners in Germany and abroad,
• A contribution to promoting the cross-border networking of research institutions and educational establishments and stimulating the initiation of collaborations,
• An instrument that links German government agencies and science, intermediary and industrial organizations operating in the field of international cooperation in education and research.

• Strategic developments in research, technology and educational policy,
• Legal framework conditions for international cooperation,

• Funding opportunities and contacts for international cooperation,
• Events related to the subject of cooperation in education and research.

Kooperation international is aimed at

all those who would like to cooperate with non-German partners in the areas of research and education, are interested in cross-border projects, or require guidance or intermediary services in this field:

• Researchers, developers and scientists interested in cross-border projects,
• Students interested in study periods abroad,
• Research institutions, universities, intermediary organizations and companies that would like to network their services and activities at an international level,
• Key players in the fields of corporate planning, politics and administration who require access to the research and education systems in other countries,
• Staff from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the International Bureau, the BMBF’s project management organizations, and other ministries at Federal Government and Länder level.

Kooperation international is part of the Federal Government’s Internationalization Strategy, which is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The Internationalization Strategy has the following aims:

• Identifying outstanding knowledge, successful structures and best practices in other countries and adapting them to Germany’s science, research and innovation systems.
• Intensifying the international activities of German science, research and intermediary organizations by improving coordination and cooperation between different stakeholders within the German science and innovation system and by improving the exchange of information.
• Finding solutions to the challenges of global competition and making them available to our science and innovation system.
