The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has launched the "Digital GreenTalents - High Potentials in Sustainable Development" programme in 2024, and is once again looking for talented young scientists to research solutions to these pressing issues and thus contribute to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 20 Digital GreenTalents will have the opportunity to complete a fully-funded research stay of up to three months in Germany in 2026.
The Digital GreenTalents Award is open to PhD students focusing on the application of digitalization for sustainable development. Master's students and recent PhD graduates are also eligible to apply. The Digital GreenTalents are selected by a jury of high-ranking experts. The winners will be announced during an online ceremony in November 2025. In addition to the scholarship for the research stay in Germany, the Digital GreenTalents Award also includes a mentoring program and participation in the SpringSchool 2026 with workshops, excursions and numerous networking opportunities.
Application deadline is 6 June 2025. Applications from German citizens or applicants who live and work in Germany cannot be considered.
