The projects should combine core theoretical research with concepts vital to social, humanitarian, and political practice. The research projects should be linked to one or more of the following five core areas of research:
- Forced-migration infrastructures
- South-South (im)mobilities
- Multiple displacements
- Displaced people’s agency
- (Supra-)state influences on displacement processes
The Foundation generally accepts applications for the funding of research projects by universities, other research institutes or comparable institutions, as well as by one or several postdocs or scholars holding the postdoctoral-lecturing qualification (Habilitation). Depending on the type of project pursued, funding would cover associated costs for personnel, travel, acquiring relevant materials, and/or other necessary expenses. Doctoral students are not eligible to apply for funding independently.
The funding programme is aimed at researchers all over the world.
Applications for the funding programme on “Forced migration” can only be submitted electronically. The required documents can be uploaded directly in conjunction with filling out the online application form. Proposals will only be accepted in English.
