NeuroNex Call for International Collaboration: Next Generation Networks for Neuroscience – Technology-enabled, Team-based Neuroscience

Deadline: 14.06.2019 Programme calls

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) together with the National Science Foundation (NSF), USA, Medical Research Council (part of UK Research and Innovation, UKRI-MRC), UK, Fonds de Recherche du Québec (FRQ), Canada, and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Canada, is announcing the 2019–2020 transnational call for research proposals on “Next Generation Networks for Neuroscience (NeuroNex) – Technology-enabled, Team-based Neuroscience”.

The goal of this joint funding initiative is to support collaborative networks (approximately 15 to 20 investigators in each network) comprised of international teams of different disciplines working on a common foundational question in neuroscience. It is anticipated that these international networks will enable experimentation, analysis, and discovery in neuroscience at scales much larger than currently possible. International collaborative networks are invited to submit preliminary proposals in the areas described in the NeuroNex programme.

Proposals must be submitted in accordance with the NSF proposal preparation requirements via Fastlane. In parallel to submitting to the NSF, German applicants are requested to submit a copy of the proposal to the DFG via elan, the DFG’s electronic proposal processing system.

NeuroNex comprises a two-step evaluation process. Preliminary proposals will be reviewed in competition with other proposals received in the same submission window by a joint review process. Upon positive assessment, applicants will be invited to submit full proposals.

Preliminary proposal due date (due by 5 p.m. submitter's local time) is June 14, 2019; full proposal deadline (due by 5 p.m. submitter's local time) is December 13, 2019.
