In the last ten years Cooperation in biotechnology has become one of the central issues in the scientific relations between Germany and Russia. Based on interministerial agreements between Germany and Russia the German-Russian Cooperation Network Biotechnology was launched in April 2005. The network develops and strengthens contacts between German and Russian biotechnology companies, research institutions and decision makers in policy and administrations.
Currently the network consists of six German main partners located in different federal states and reflecting a cross section of the biotechnology landscape in Germany and one Russian partner. The partners are supported in their activities by a number of associated partners in Germany and in Russia.
As central activity 2013 East-West-Science Centre, University of Kassel (German Coordinator), the A.N. Bach Institute of Biochemistry Moscow (Russian Coordinator) together with the BioCon Valley® GmbH Greifswald, organize the German-Russian Forum Biotechnology 2013 from June 4.-5. in Rostock / Warnemünde (Germany).

- Marine Biotechnology
- Regenerative Medicine / Personalized Medicine
