Education and Research Minister Schavan presents winners of the Green Talents Award at the 7th BMBF Forum for Sustainability

The 7th BMBF-Forum for Sustainability „Research for Sustainable Development - International“ takes place from 2-4 November, 2010 at the conference and convention center axica in Berlin. Prof. Dr. Annette Schavan, Federal Minister of Education and Research (BMBF) will open the event for the strengthening of international cooperation and for the promotion of innovations for climate and resource protection. As part of the opening, the Minister will present the winners of the international Green Talent Award. This price is awarded to young scientists from all over the world for creative and intelligent solutions in the field of climate protection, sustainable use of land and resources as well as energy efficiency.

In the following, TV-moderator and meterologist Karsten Schwanke will interview three partners from research projects funded by the BMBF, to present practical examples of successful research cooperation. CEO of Schwenk Zement GmbH, Gerhard Hirth will introduce Celitements, innovative bonding agents which can reduce the CO2-Emissions by up to 50% compared to common portland-cement. The development and marketing of an environmental friendly pesticide in China will be discussed by Dr. Helmut Junge, CEO of ABiTEP GmbH. Dr. Nenny Sapdji from the Technology Institute in Bandung, Indonesia will present cooperation and capacity-building in a German-Indonesian project for sustainable use of geothermal reserves.

At the 7th BMBF Forum for Sustainability more than 300 international participants in about 20 sessions will present best-practice examples, explore innovative solutions and advance international research cooperation.

This year´s Forum and its sessions will focus on the following topics:

B Climate and Energy
C Water and Resources.

In addition, the scientific programme and the evening events will offer manifold opportunities for informal exchanges, making contacts, discussing ideas and initiating projects.
