Presenting Eastern Europe & Central Asia cooperation potential at BIOTECHNICA 2011

8 experts from Eastern Europe and Central Asia presented the chances and challenges for bi-regional biotechnology cooperation at BIOTECHNICA, Europe´s leading annual event for biotechnology and the life sciences. In addition to their presentations at the Innovation Forum, the experts were available for in depth talks at the information stand of the IncoNet EECA project.

BIOTECHNICA is Europe's leading annual event for biotechnology and the life sciences. It covers the entire spectrum of biotechnology, including fundamentals and equipment, bio-informatics and services, and addresses all five major fields of applicati on, i.e. pharmaceuticals/ medicine, industrial manufacturing, food, agriculture and the environment. The exhibition is being complemented by several conferences and other side events.

IncoNet EECA organised a specialised Eastern Europe and Central Asia Session within BIOTECHNICA's "Innovation Forum". Access to the forum was free for all visitors of BIOTECHNICA.

The eight experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan presented biotech activities in their countries and highlighted chances and challenges for international cooperation. They also used the opportunity to get an overview of the current state of European biotechnology and to exchange experiences with potential partners.

Apart from the participation in the Innovation Forum, IncoNet EECA was also present with an information stand, where the experts were available for further talks. Here visitors also found information about the project and about S&T cooperation between the European Reasearch Area and EECA in general.
