Tips for study and daily life: new DAAD-website for international students

International Students can get detailed information about study and research opportunities in Germany on a new website now: recently the DAAD expanded its Internet services with the launch of www.study-in.de. Designed as a modern and user-friendly website, it has a large selection of offers in German and English. It features an arsenal of Web 2.0 tools, such as an interactive map of Germany in which users can virtually "travel" to Berlin, a search engine for finding the right master's degree programme and the DAADblog where foreign students can post their impressions and experiences in Germany.

Users can also find answers to the most commonly asked questions about life and university study in Germany in ten video clips titled "Student Life", created in cooperation with the University of Mittweida and posted on the DAAD YouTube-channel. For those looking for a more personal contact, the DAAD Fair Ticker informs users about upcoming educational fairs in Germany and abroad. Study-in.de features a clearly-structured, straightforward design.

In addition to basic information about study-related issues, the website strongly focuses on life in Germany in general and gives deeper insights into German day-to-day life. In order to facilitate the start for international students, the DAAD set up a profile on Germany's largest social network "StudiVZ", where they can establish contacts to German students at their hosting university before arriving in Germany.

Study-in.de is financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is closely linked with the "Information for Foreigners" section on http://www.daad.de/, which registers more than three million page views per month. Furthermore, study-in.de cooperates with the German Rector's Conference (HRK) for its degree programme search tool. Study-in.de is the website of the "Study in Germany - Land of Ideas" campaign, whose goal is to raise public awareness of Germany as a country of academic excellence and attract more highly qualified foreign students to German universities.
