FLAG-ERA Joint Transnational Call “Graphene”
FLAG-ERA (the Flagship ERA-Net) gathers National and Regional Funding Organisations in Europe and beyond with the goal of supporting the FET (Future Emerging Technologies) Flagships selected by the European Commission in 2013. One of its main aims is to allow researchers to complement the current Flagship projects and to collaborate towards the achievement of their vision through the use of existing or dedicated transnational, national and regional calls. The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation, DFG) is a partner in FLAG-ERA and participates in the work packages supporting the Graphene Flagship.
On 27 October 2014, FLAG-ERA has issued its first Joint Transnational Call (JTC) covering two topics (Graphene and Human Brain Project) dedicated to supporting collaborative research projects in synergy with the two FET Flagships. The official announcement of the call and all further information on the call topics, the participating funding organisations and the eligibility and evaluation criteria can be found on the Flag-ERA website (see link above). Funding for principal investigators of selected collaborative research projects will be provided directly by the participating funding organisations in their respective countries.
The DFG participates in the FLAG-ERA JTC 2015 for the “Graphene” topic and will provide funding for principal investigators from German research institutions taking part in respective collaborative research projects.
In addition to the eligibility criteria defined in the call announcement, the general DFG rules and conditions as defined in the DFG form 50.01 “Guidelines Research Grants Programme” apply. As an exception, the Guidelines on the Duty to Cooperate (“Hinweis Kooperationspflicht”, DFG guideline 55.01) shall not apply.
Full proposals must be received by the Joint Call Secretariat through the FLAG-ERA JTC 2015 submission website by 27 January 2015, 5 p.m. CET. All further information on proposal submission and a template can be found on the FLAG-ERA webpage.
In addition, proposals involving principal investigators who will request funding from DFG have to be submitted to the DFG via its submission system “elan” at the same deadline. Respective applicants should contact the DFG before submitting their proposals.
In the “elan”-system proposals may be submitted by choosing “FLAG-ERA Joint Transnational Call Graphene” under “Call for Proposals”. You have to provide contact information and the proposed budget for all applicants requesting funding from DFG. The other principal investigators (as defined in the FLAG-ERA proposal template) have to be entered as “Cooperation Partners” under “Other Participating Individuals”. The complete FLAG-ERA proposal document must be uploaded in the “elan”-system as a pdf-file. Besides that, it is not necessary to provide a separate proposal for the DFG submission.
