On 7 July 2013, IMI officially launched its 9th Call for proposals. Based on the recommendations of the IMI Research Agenda the IMI Governing Board has approved the Scientific Priorities 2013 as part of IMI Annual Implementation Plan 2013. Four of these priorities are implemented through the IMI 9th Call Topics (for Details see Information Package below):
- WEBAE – Leveraging emerging technologies for pharmacovigilance
- Developing innovative therapeutic interventions against physical frailty and sarcopenia (ITI-PF&S) as a prototype geriatric indication
- Driving re-investment in R&D and responsible use of antibiotics (ND4BB topic 4)
- Clinical development of antibacterial agents for Gram-negative antibiotic resistant pathogens (ND4BB topic 5)
Applicants intending to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) in response to the IMI 9th Call should read the Call topics text, the Rules for Participation in the IMI JU collaborative projects, the Rules for Submission, Evaluation and Selection of EoIs and Full Project Proposals (FPPs), the IMI IPR rules and the IMI JU model Grant Agreement (see Information Package below).

Budget: The indicative in kind contribution from the research-based companies that are members of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) will be EUR 72.25 million. The financial contribution from the European Community to the IMI JU for the support of research activities will be a maximum of EUR 63.12 million.

The scientific section is to be completed by the applicants and uploaded in the electronic submission tool.
Please note: The IMI electronic submission tool SOFIA (Submission OF Information Application) is to be used for submitting an Expression of Interest in response to a topic of the 9th Call; no other means of submission will be accepted. SOFIA was opened for submission of EoIs on 9 July 2013. Updates of the EoIs may be submitted online until the Call submission deadline. Only the most recent version shall be considered for the evaluation procedure (including eligibility check).
