The SCOPE-Zhongyu Environmental Awards were inaugurated in 2010. This 10-year programme recognizes and encourages outstanding scientists who contribute to the improvement of the world environment through promotion of environmental sciences, technological advances and research on best management practices.
The Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE) and the Zhongyu Environmental Technologies Corporation aim to sustain and guide the development of environmental science and technology and to foster cooperation in environmental protection and management strategies.
Nomination of Candidates
Candidates may be nominated by the Members and Executive Committee of SCOPE, its partner agencies, and invited national and international organizations.
Candidates must be 45 years or younger at 30 April 2013, hold a doctorate (PhD) granted within the past 10 years, and demonstrate no less than five years’ research experience and an outstanding research record.Applications from candidates themselves will not be considered. The Awards are made to living individuals.
The letter or statement of nomination should clearly indicate the Award category:
- Environmental Sciences
- Environmental Technological Innovations
- Environmental Management
- the rationale and evidence to support the nomination, and the relevance to the Award objectives.
The Awards Jury, assisted by the non-voting Technical Secretariat, will designate the winning candidate in each category by majority vote. The Jury’s decision will be final.
Submission of Nominations
To be provided by email before 10 December 2013:
- Letter or statement of well-reasoned justification, signed and dated by one nominator, indicating the Award category
- Candidate Information Form
- Curriculum vitae of the candidate
The original signed letter or statement, Candidate Information Form, Curriculum vitae, any additional letters of support, and lists of publications etc. must also be submitted in hard copy/paper to the SCOPE Secretariat.
