Bosnia and Herzegovina participates in the EU Research and Innovation programmes since 2009. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s structural reform priorities encourage the competitive generation and distribution of knowledge through investing in research and development, clusters and small and medium-sized enterprises. In this way, BiH aims at increasing industrial competitiveness and achieving strong economic growth. International cooperation in research and innovation is a key component in this. BiH’ strengths in Horizon 2020 are in the fields of Energy and Environment. The relatively high number of participants in the Innovation in SMEs part of Horizon 2020 underlines continuously growing number of participants and projects from BiH in Horizon 2020.
