The first edition of the European Foundations Award for Responsible Research and Innovation was launched. This is an initiative promoted by Fondazione Cariplo, King Baudouin Foundation, Fundació la Caixa, Lundbeck Foundation, Robert Bosch Stiftung and European Foundation Centre.
The award – addressed to researchers, research centres, universities and civil society organizations – offers €20,000 to the 3 best activities or practices in line with the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). The European Commission uses this term to refer to a research and innovation activity in which different social players – researchers, citizens, political decision makers, business world, third sector organizations – work together for the whole action period, in order to align at best both the process and the results from research and innovation activities to the values, needs and expectations of the society.
The initiative aims to disseminate a research and innovation model based on the promotion of the skills of all players involved on a dialogue-based and fruitful relationship between science and society. To participate in the award, applications can be submitted no later than 7 December 2015.
