Funding of German-Brazilian Projects with FAPERJ, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Within the scope of the recently established cooperation agreement between the Research Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation), the two funding agencies jointly announce the possibility to apply for German-Brazilian research projects in all areas of science.

German researchers have the possibility to apply with a Brazilian collaboration partner or several partners, co-financed by FAPERJ, in the DFG Research Grants Programme (up to three years funding period).

The German partner has to submit the proposal to the DFG and the Brazilian partner to FAPERJ, following the individual requirements of each organisation. Within the current call, proposals may be submitted at least twice a year. Submission deadlines are announced on the FAPERJ website.

Researchers applying to the DFG are requested to fulfil the eligibility requirements of the DFG. Proposals for DFG Research Grants have to be submitted via the electronic proposal processing system “elan”. After the log-in, please use the respective link “Proposal for a Research Grant” in the Proposal Forms column and then select the key word: FAPERJ-DFG-2014.

Researchers applying to FAPERJ are requested to fulfil the eligibility requirements of FAPERJ.

Funding of the joint research grants will only be granted if both funding organisations give a positive vote for funding. Unilateral funding of only one part of the project is not possible.

For the preparation of research collaboration, the DFG offers the funding programme “Grants for the initiation of international collaboration”. For more information, please contact Alida Höbener, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Kennedyallee 40, 53175 Bonn, alida.hoebener(at)dfg.de.

The DFG does not provide special funds for this initiative.
