Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance 2010

Zeitraum: 16.04.2010 Ort: Freiburg Land: Deutschland

The role of new media in environmental governance is an ambivalent one. On the one hand, new media can break down barriers, contribute to a better understanding of environmental problems, and thus provide guidance towards sustainable actions. On the other hand, access to and reliability of information are often not properly considered. The Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance 2010 will discuss the role of new media in environmental governance in a reflexive way and it will provide participants with a platform to share experiences on high-tech and no-tech forms of effective social networking.

The Forum is organized by students of the Masters Programme on Environmental Governance (MEG) from the University of Freiburg as an unique opportunity to put into practice their knowledge and skills about governance.

While participation is open to all interested individuals, this year the Forum will also include specific meetings for MEG students and alumni. They will help build a powerful network for the environmental community to share experiences and to get in contact with people in different professional fields and different regions of the world.
