Die Transatlantische Plattform startet mit der "Digging into Data Challenge" eine Initiative zur Förderung von Big Data-Konzepten in den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften. Trans-Atlantic Platform launches Digging into Data Challenge

The Trans-Atlantic Platform (T-AP), of which the German Research Foundation (DFG) is a member, is launching its 2016 Digging into Data Challenge to support research projects that use "big data" approaches to address questions in the humanities and the social sciences.

The funding opportunity is open to international projects that consist of teams from at least three member countries and must include partners from both sides of the Atlantic. All projects must address particular research questions in humanities and/or social sciences disciplines by using large-scale, digital data analysis techniques, and show how these techniques can lead to new theoretical insights. In the context of the Challenge, “big data” refers to sets of data so large or complex that manual, non-automatic processing approaches are inadequate. The data sets to be used within the Challenge can include texts, images, music, photographs, audio or audiovisual or other data. Research partners will receive funding from their own national funding agencies for projects that can last for up to 36 months.

The deadline for final applications is 29 June 2016. Learn more about the competition and the application process at www.transatlanticplatform.com.

About T-AP

The Trans-Atlantic Platform (T-AP) is an unprecedented collaboration between key humanities and social science funders and facilitators from South America, North America and Europe. T-AP aims to enhance the ability of funders, research organizations and researchers to engage in transnational dialogue and collaboration. Among other activities, it works to identify common challenges and emerging priorities in social science and humanities research. T-AP also facilitates the formation of networks within the social sciences and humanities and helps connect them with other disciplines.

About the Digging Into Data Challenge
