Norwegen: Neue Mobilitätsfinanzierungs-Datenbank

Der englischsprachige Artikel des Norwegischen Forschungsrats berichtet über eine neue Datenbank, die Informationen über relevante Fördermöglichkeiten für norwegische und internationale Forscher bietet.

International researchers interested in coming to Norway and Norwegian researchers looking to work abroad for a period of time now have a new tool to help them gain an overview over relevant funding opportunities.

The Research Council's mobility funding database was recently launched by Minister of Research and Higher Education Tora Aasland. The database contains information on a wide array of relevant mobility funding schemes for Norwegian researchers as well as on funding opportunities for international researchers who wish to spend time at a Norwegian institution.

Promoting internationalisation

In the increasingly borderless world of research, the idea of a career as an international researcher is gaining popularity. A research stay at a renowned institution abroad is often what sparks off this type of career.

"Increased mobility and more extensive international research cooperation are vital ' not only for the individual researcher but for research as a whole," said Director General of the Research Council Arvid Hallén at the official launching of the database. "Access to international knowledge production enhances both the capacity and quality of research, and this may in turn be beneficial in solving global challenges."

Finding a way through the jungle

There are many different international mobility schemes, and it can be difficult for researchers to find the funding opportunities that are a good fit for them. The new mobility funding database will provide a useful guide in this respect.

The database may be accessed via the EURAXESS Norway web portal by clicking on "Mobility funding" in the menu (or on "Stipendbasen" on the Norwegian portal). A short presentation is provided of mobility funding opportunities from the Research Council and other funders including information about who is eligible to apply, what kinds of funding are available and how much funding may be sought.
