The Research Council's new statistical database contains data on every project awarded a grant in the period 2005-2010.

The database will enable users to select and customise grant information for analysis. The new tool is only in Norwegian but will be easy to operate for anyone with command of any of the Scandinavian languages.

From 2005 to 2010 the Research Council allocated over NOK 28 billion for research projects.

Emphasis on transparency and accessibility

"This is the first step in a major push to make our grant data accessible in a completely new way," says the Research Council's Kari-Anne Kristensen, the driving force behind the implementation of the new tool.

"The ultimate aim is for the database to reduce the need to present figures and statistics in our printed annual report. We hope that the ministries, public administration, research community and media will make good use of this data in matters related to research, research policy and dissemination activities."
