GEO - Group on Earth Observations

Bildungs- und Forschungskooperation Netzwerke in Forschung, Technologie und Innovation

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is coordinating efforts to build a Global Earth Observation System of Systems, or GEOSS.

Set up in 2002 in response to calls for action by the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development and by the G8 (Group of Eight) leading industrialized countries, GEO is an intergovernmental partnership working to improve the availability, access and use of open Earth observations, including satellite imagery, remote sensing and in situ data, to impact policy and decision making in a wide range of sectors.

GEO’s 112 Member Countries and 133 Participating Organizations work together to develop and implement projects and initiatives that solve global problems.
