The British Council (BC) is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. The BC supports peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and countries worldwide. The BC does this through its work in arts and culture, education and the English language. The BC works with people in over 200 countries and territories and is on the ground in more than 100 countries. In 2022-23 the BC reached 600 million people.
Founded in 1934, the BC is a UK charity governed by Royal Charter and a UK public body.
