On 11 February 2026, the International Science Council (ISC), the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), and the Standing Committee for Gender Equality in Science (SCGES) will host a public webinar marking the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
Running from 14:00–16:00 UTC, the 90-minute online event will unveil the results of a major 10-year study on gender equality across academies, scientific unions, and disciplinary societies worldwide.
The question which guides the webinar will be: How far have scientific organizations come in advancing gender equality — and how far do we still have to go?
Drawing on data from 136 scientific organizations, survey responses from nearly 650 scientists, and targeted interviews, the new ISC–IAP–SCGES report provides the most comprehensive assessment to date of women’s participation, leadership and recognition in scientific institutions.
This session aims to equip scientific leaders, policymakers, funders and researchers with new knowledge to drive structural change.
Participants will:
- Hear the key global findings and 10-year trends
- Learn from organizations implementing effective policies and governance reforms
- Explore concrete follow-up actions, including monitoring frameworks and internal reviews
- Engage in dialogue on priorities for equitable participation in science
