Heralding a new era in Indo-German Research and Technology partnership, the German Government, Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (Federal Ministry of Education and Research / BMBF) had embarked on a major Research and Technology initiative with India for the period 2008 / 2010. This programme for the Indo- German corridor is being implemented under the aegis of the larger Initiative - Research in Germany- Land of Ideas - and aims to intensify co-operation in strategically important areas and initiate joint projects between India and Germany. It is also looking at a bilateral exchange of the best international experts for joint R&D activities. Building new international networks of competence clusters and increasing the contract research of German research institutions on the global market are the other key objectives.

The Inaugural Event in September 2008 in New Delhi was launched by the Honorable Federal Minister for Education and Research, Govt. of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr Annette Schavan and the Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Mr. Kapil Sibal in the presence of over 400 key people from the Indian and German ministries, research institutions and industry. We would now like to invite you to the following events in March. First is the Indo German Innovation Platform which is part of the EmTech 2010 on the 8th and the 9th of March. The 8th of March will consist of presentations in the field of Life Sciences and the 9th of March will be dedicated to the field of Environmental Technology. The Second is the Springboard Event on the 11th of March at The Grand Hotel New Delhi. The third event will be held at the head office of the Maratha Chambers of Commerce Industry and Agriculture in Pune on the 12th and 13th of March 2010 with its primary focus on Production Technology. The programme will include presentations by eminent researches and industry captains on innovative technology and programmes in the field of Production Technology, Life Sciences and Sustainable Development. A highlight of the event is the preparation of a Road map for Indo German Collaboration in the above mentioned fields. Partnerships and projects that are formed as a result of this exercise will be funded through Indian and German Science & Technology funds. The Indian partners will have access to German R&D and networks of competence.
