VDU - Vietnamesisch-Deutsche Universität

Bildungs- und Forschungskooperation Hochschulen

The initial idea of a Vietnamese-German University (VGU) was developed in late 2005. The Hessen State Minister of Higher Education, Research and the Arts (HMWK), Udo Corts, and the Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training (MOET), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, decided to establish the university.

The joint project broadened to a German-wide cooperation. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts Baden-Wuerttemberg (MWK) as well as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the World University Service (WUS) and the VGU-Consortium are to be considered as major stakeholders which support VGU substantially.

After only two years the initial idea was realized. Founded in 2008, VGU has become an acknowledged and excellent university model which focuses on engineering areas and economics. German and Vietnamese stakeholders make a joint effort to support VGU on its way towards becoming the leading research university in Vietnam and the region, offering an outstanding education to students and young academics.
