The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) is a South African government department responsible for supporting research, science, technology, and innovation to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
Previously known as the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), it was renamed to DSTI on 27. September 2024. The change followed the division of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation into two separate entities: the Ministry of Higher Education and Training, and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, under the Seventh Administration.
